It was a warm day with clouds off and on. Significant rain (storms) held off for all but two participants. There were only 37 starts for today's event which was surprising considering the event was held on a Saturday with decent weather forecasted. It was, however, a graduation weekend which may have impacted the number of starts.  36 people participated.

Dave Battista was the event director. He offered a beginner and novice course along with two score courses (a north and a south). Participants started on the south course and had 45 minutes to visit as many controls as possible. After finishing the south course, they received the map for the north course and were off again; also with 45 minutes (there was the option to do only the south course as well). Dave spread the controls out in a way that made clearing either course in 45 minutes virtually impossible (especially for the north map). It was decided at one point that the event felt like a "sprint" score. Participants were forced to exercise some self-control and stick to their planned route to make it back without penalty (3 points/minute). Nevertheless, there was a healthy amount of late finishers.

All participants shared a portion of their course with a disc golf tournament. Dave expected some disc golfers to be playing, but not a tournament. It worked out for the most part considering the finish control was in the fairway of the 10th hole. A couple of "tech" issues occurred during the event. On the beginner course, the 8th control box started to buzz continuously after the first participant dipped their SI card. It was remedied fairly quickly. However, the troubled box had to be buried at the bottom of one of the equipment bins to not drive anyone crazy. Secondly, Luca Rzewski completed both score courses without a watch. While he substituted a phone, it clearly impacted his ability to get back in time (especially on the south course). He still finished well on both courses.
