The weather was a mixed bag for the 3BC. We had light rain for the first hour with a temperature about 60. From there, the temperature went steadily downhill and the wind steadily increased. Nevertheless, we had 43 starts from 65 people, about evenly divided between the 3-hour and 6-hour races. Several large groups that had preregistered did not show up, some probably weather related and at least one injury related.

Jim Wolfe was event director; he designed 40-control course that he regarded as more difficult than the 2024 3BC. The point system was also slightly modified so that 2443 points were possible versus 2260 previously; this was because control placement was deemed to be more challenging. The 8 controls that offered First Found Bonuses (and the winners) were 41 - Sylvan Pursuit, 49 - Jerkface, 52 - Matthew Hasselfield, 52 - Jonathan Boyer, 61 - Run Amuck, 62 - Long Hair Lummox, 75 - Raccoongainer, and 81 - Aaron Buxser. Each bonus was worth $20.

Jonathan Boyer came in with the highest overall score (2215). There was one anomaly in scoring. Somehow control box #44 was incorrectly programmed to be box #42 while control box 42 was programmed to be #44. As a result, anyone who visited that control got only 42 points instead of 44 and someone who visited control 42 got 44 points instead of 42. I don't understand how this happened at the moment; stay tuned if you are interested. If I find myself with nothing else to do, I will update the scores; I don't think the 2 point error made any real difference. These control box errors would mess up Livelox and RouteGadget; so the data files have been modified so that the routes will appear properly even if the scores are off by 2.
