How to Register

Thanks to Kent Shaw's easy-to-use online registration system, you may register for Keystone Capers either online or by using the standard registration form.  We would very much prefer that you registered online; it avoids errors and makes the registrar's work easier.  Check out the information below about the elements of registering and then use one of the links below.   REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

Online registration was shut down on June 19.  No more preregistration is permitted; you must register at the event.

ENTRY FEE REBATE:  In order to encourage greater attendance at A-meets, Orienteering USA is offering a 50% rebate on entry fees for first timers at an A-meet.

Entry Fees and Deadlines

Entry fees area based on the competitor's age and the date when the entry is postmarked (if paying through the mail) or when online registration is done (if paying online).  See the following table for deadlines and fees by category.

You may register for one or both days; however, to be eligible for an award on Sunday, you must have a two-day combined time in the same competitive class.

Your registration is not considered complete until we have received payment and your signed waiver.

Competitors from outside the US may pay and sign waivers upon arrival at packet pickup.  Their entry fee will be based on the date that they register.

Cancellations up to May 28 will result in complete refunds of entry fees.  Cancellations between May 29 and June 11 will result in refunds of entry fees less $20.  There will be no refunds for cancellations after June 11.  Cancel by e-mail to the registrar.

Competitive classes

Individual competitors are divided into the following classes by gender, and age as of December 31 of the current year. Eligibility (and ineligibility) for classes occurs at the beginning of the calendar year in which the competitor reaches a new age group.   Classes containing "F" are female and "M" are male.   "-" before the age means "and younger";  "+" after the age means "and older". Classes designated by course color only are age-neutral (open). In addition to individual competition, Gr, groups may compete in a separate gender neutral categories on beginner through intermediate level courses.  One non-competitive category designated M/F-White is available.

You may choose to compete in any class that you qualify for.  For example, a woman born in 1962 is considered to be 49 years old; she may choose to compete in F21+, F35+, F40+, F45+ or any F-color..  Another example, a boy born in 1996 is considered to be 15 years old; he may choose to compete in age M-16, M-18, M-20 or any M-color.  Most people choose the class in which they will find competitors closest to their own age - for the woman example, that would be F45+; for the boy example, it would be M-16.

Recreational Courses  (for Map Hikers)

White and Yellow recreational courses will be available to all comers each day at a cost of $8 per day.  Participants will be using e-punching and the e-punch being used must not be one used by another competitor.   The e-punch rental ($2 per day) is included in the recreational course fee.  Anyone losing a rental e-punch will be required to pay a replacement fee of $40.

Additional Registration Items

Waiver
All participants must complete and sign a Release of Liability Waiver prior to competing in any of the events.  If you have paid your entry fee online and can convert the waiver form to a .pdf file, please send it to the registrar as an e-mail attachment.  Otherwise, you must send the printed waiver form to the registrar before the event or sign a waiver at the event.

E-Punch Rental
All events use electronic timing (SportIdent).  For those on competitive courses, there is a charge of $2/day to rent SportIdent e-punches if you don’t have your own. (This charge is included in the entry fee for Map Hikers.  Rental e-punches will be collected at download on your last day of competition.  Anyone losing a rental e-punch will be required to pay a replacement fee of $40.

Saturday Dinner
There will be a spaghetti dinner on Saturday evening at the Delmont Fire Hall.  The dinner is at 6:30 pm and the cost is $9 for an adult and $4.50 for children under 12.  The dinner will consist of spaghetti, sauce with or without meat, salad, bread, dessert and soft drinks (soda, ice tea, lemonade, water).  It will be an all-you-can-eat affair.

Driving directions:  From the junction of Routes 22 and 66, take 66 north to the first traffic light.  Make a sharp left onto Manor Drive.  Then, take the first left onto Abbe Pl and after a short distance another left into the fire hall driveway.  Drive around the building to the parking.  See location M on the  Detail map of Delmont  The fire hall is less than a mile from the hotels in Delmont.  The map also shows an alternate route to the fire hall from the Holiday Inn Express.

T-Shirts
A T-shirt has been designed to commemorate this event.  The cost is $12 with sizes Adult Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large.  You can view the design by Greg Gillis here This design will be printed on a light gray background.

Baby Sitting
To provide this service, we need to have a relatively accurate count of the number of children and their ages.
Therefore, a non-refundable deposit of $5 per child/per day will be applied towards a rate of $5/hour per child.
We will supply shelter, toys, activities and snacks. Please provide other items or special foods that might
be needed for your child(ren). A playground and spray park are available near parking at Deer Lakes and a
playground and beach are available near parking at Keystone. If you (or a non-competing family member) are
interested in assisting with baby sitting in exchange for a reduced rate, please contact us.
