Course Originally Used for the 9 August 2020 Orienteering Event

Below  you will find a link to  the course.  It is a .pdf file.  It is a 1:10000 scale map with 5 m contours.  You can print the course on a regular 8 1/2 x 11 page.  When you do the printing, be sure to choose "Actual size", not "Fit" and not "Custom scale".  Either of these last two choices will cause the printed map to be distorted in some way, i.e., mess up the scale.

Control locations are marked in the forest with florescent pink tape.  Each tape has written on it "WPOC" and the control number.  It is possible that a few tapes have disappeared.  It is also possible that a few tapes have the writing faded - weather does that.  There are no normal control flags nor any permanent markers used to mark control locations.

A couple of notes:  1) The map shows only 2/3 of the original course (20 of 32 original controls).  This is because to reach the other 12 controls you would have to cross Camp Seph Mack; permission to cross the camp was obtained only for the original date.  2)  The North Shore of Yellow Creek S.P. has not been used for an orienteering event for five years.  Consequently, the map, particularly the vegetation, is somewhat out of date.  Expect some green areas to be thicker than the map shows.  3) The course begins and ends at the North Shore Pavilion (lower lefthand corner of the map).  This is a reservable facility; if people are in the facility please do not disturb them.  4) Control #131 is on a barbed wire fence.  5)  There is a large amount of cultivated land; you may go along the edge of these fields; you may not cross them.  6)  STAY SAFE OUT THERE.
